		<description>Back in the 1930s when I was a child, polio was the scourge of the summers.  One summmer it was really bad and three kids in our small town weree ill with it.  My cousin and I were not allowed to go to town or go into stores.  His mother and mine made a couple of treks a week into the local ice c\eam shop slash news stand and brought home the latest comics.  Superman.  Green Lantern, Eerie.  Weird.  Batman.  Others I can&#039;t recall.  Red Ryder, perhaps.  Before we were allowed to read them the books were put out in the sun all day to supposedly kill all the germs.  I guess it worked. We did noit get sick. But it made a life long comic fan of me.  I only wish I had kept mine  as well as the dixie cup lids with movie star pictures on them.  Just to share...</description>
